Parra

WHAT I'M LOOKING AT:

This is the style of image and illustration I'm currently really into. Bold, bright and light hearted. I think it's great. Great use of colour, layout on the t-shirt, would make lovely screen prints. Simple, but effective. The style of professionalism I want my work to have. What I am particularly interested in, (mostly in the bottom image) is the way that the illustration works with the type and the type works with the illustration. I struggle with finding a typeface I'm happy with to put along side my illustration and yet this hand draw blocky type works so well. Perhaps i should give it a go...

I found this booklet propped up on the side of a bar in town. The vector based images on the front instantly caught my eye and I just had to pick it up. I loved the way they have only used one colour throughout. The simplicity of colour use has such an impact on the resolution. I loved everything about it, from the type face used, the layout to the style of illustration. Great design.

Steve Wilson

WHAT I'M LOOKING AT:

I just don't know where to start with this guy. I love his use of colour and line. Although I love his style of type and illustration I think what interests me most about his work is his use of colour. It's so bold and in your face. I want to learn more about how to use colour correctly and how to make it look 'good' in my work. I don't seem to have much structure with the way I use it. He however, seems so careful and thoughtful with limitations and combinations. Love it.

Bernado Henning

WHAT I'M LOOKING AT:

I have posted these images by Bernado Henning mainly because of the top two pictures. One of the guy holding a screen print poster and the other a guy wearing a screen printed tee. What interests me is the limited use of colour and illustration/type combination. Why is it I can't find type to work so well with my illustrations like this guy can? Maybe I just need to practice more, but looking at work by people like Bernardo really helps. So yeh, this is what I'm into and what I'm currently looking at...

Chris Ede

WHAT I'M LOOKING AT:

I recently stumbled across Chris's work on a friends blog. It is completely the style that I'm into. Especially the work at the bottom in blue. I love his use of line and colour in these designs. They're bold and very precise. Everything is quite simple but yet the colour boosts the design to look more complex. This is an approach I want to take with my work. At the moment I enjoy simple black line drawings which he also does, however I want to express myself more by incorporating colour into my designs.
