I went to Dunelm over the weekend to purchase some new products to print onto for my Hovis brief. While I was there I had a good look round at their current kitchen range and to see if I could find any inspiration for my designs. These are some of the products they had for sale as a set. A very good example of how well designs can be applied to different products and work so well together. Although my illustrations and layout for my Hovis products will be very different, I would like my products to work as well together.

Eastpack
Eastpack. Wow. Another example of how much I am starting to appreciate pattern so much. Really simple designs and use of colour but yet when applied to the bags they work so well. I have my own Eastpack backpack that has been thoroughly well used, but yet I still go back to it! Practical and comfortable. It's great how applying some simple and really nice illustration to something can just spice it up a bit, when it might otherwise be regarded as being geeky and boring... These are some of the bags and designs in their current range. Really eye catching from the bold shapes and block colour used on them.

Olli & Lime - Hovis Research
Kitchen and Nursery wear.
'Products for design conscious parents.'
Colour drew me into these products. Also they use of plain space within the designs. The designs aren't afraid to be spread out. They're simple and bold and have a consistency that also runs throughout. Very modern, but good inspiration for tea towels and aprons :)

BHS Oven Glove Design - Hovis Research
I'm not so sure how much I like the embroidery technique to these patterns, but it was the pattern and use of colour that really caught me eye with these shots. Quite quirky and homely, something I would regard as being a bit 'busy' but yet they still work really well. It's nice to see another way of applying designs to products. I'm really interested in the application of putting designs onto products. I'm currently experimenting with finding the best way to apply my work to different products.

Laura Ashley - Hovis Research
'Botanical Birds.'
A new range of kitchen-ware at Laura Ashley. Again as inspiration for my Hovis brief. I picked these out as an example of how they work as a set. I'm really not keen on much else about them however. The illustration and colour pallet isn't really my cuppa tea, but the products and the way the design runs consistently through them is a helpful example.
